Hieda

Did you know that in Japanese mythology Hieda was a woman who could remember and repeat anything anyone ever told her? Consider start-up company Hieda as something similar. Or how would you describe the perfect data-platform? Precisely. We had to make sure the whole world knew that Hieda exists and that they offer a service where clients never have to ask things twice and that their platforms remember everything.

The Challenge

Hieda is a start-up focused on open-source data-platforms. They provide consultancy both to companies who still need to choose a type of platform, and to companies who need to optimise the one they have. Managing partners Luc and Bart, asked us to help them create an online identity and to launch their story. This had to entail branding, a website and some social media channels. As a start-up, they would preferably be able to work with it themselves, and the sooner, the better.

Our Idea

We provide starter kits for companies who want to begin their online existence lean and mean. Since Hieda already had a (kick-ass) name, we provided them with branding, customised social media channels and a simple one-pager in Webflow so they could be contacted. Additionally, they could put extra content on a career page, which was important to them. When they would post something on their social media, people would be directed from there to their website.  

By now, Hieda has outgrown the starter kit and is asking us to scale it up, but this case shows you what we made for them in the first place.

About the starter kit

Consider a starter kit something with which you can take the first step towards online presence for your company. Initially, you receive visual representation of your story and extensive branding of your identity. We build a fairly simple website and set up social media channels that all reflect your company and its values.  

We started our quest with Hieda by doing an intake. As we wouldn’t be providing recurrent marketing or multiple iterations before designing, it was important we knew exactly who they were and what they did. Based on that meeting we made two different kinds of branding from which they could choose.  

We use starter kits, so people have an easy kick-off. Once we’ve set it all up, we coach them on how to use everything. After that, we let them go. Obviously, they can always contact us with small questions but it’s not our intention to provide ongoing support. However, whenever they feel like they’ve outgrown the starter kit and are willing to expand, we’ll naturally continue the journey together.

Branding Hieda

That is why we ensure our branding provides that option. Clients need to know how to work with it, and we need to be able to build on it once companies want to expand their starter kit to recurrent marketing or larger branding. Lucky for us, their name was extremely well-chosen. Hieda’s key value is that when clients have a request, they only need to ask once and things will get done properly. Then there’s also the aspect of what a data-platform should be: efficient and smoothly working. Their own clientele needed to feel comforted and unburdened by their service.  

All that had to be clear from the branding. Hieda opens the world of data-platforms, they’re at your service 24/7 and make you forget about your worries. Throughout their branding, we committed to designing everything as open as possible. Their website shows their logo evolving from compact and chaotic to something more open that makes you sigh with relief. There’s a lot of letterspacing in the logo itself to give it a modern yet timeless feel. The lines are a play on the traditional icon of a database. We took the compact symbol and pulled it apart to make it transparent.  

The great thing here is that the possibilities are endless. We started clean and plain but what we designed leaves room for variation and new ideas. That’s what our kit offers you: an effortless start that can be expanded as soon as the need arises. When that happens, we’ll have enough material on our hands to continue working with. You receive enough coaching and tools from the beginning to make your mark.

Hieda x Unmute You

Ensuring a great start is what our kit is all about. However, we’re thrilled when this evolves into recurring partnerships. Hieda has asked us to continue their launch and unmute their story further so they can focus on their expertise.
